Is Duolingo for Schools safe?

Last updated: August 28, 2017

Yes. We collect very little information at sign up, and you can share as little information as you wish. We do use learning data to automatically generate personalized lessons for each student. If you want more details, please take the time to read our Privacy Policy

You can also access certain parental controls and student privacy settings to disable social features (forums, sentence discussions, etc) as well as hide “mature” words in your classroom's Privacy settings (see images below). Please remind your students to only join a classroom of someone you know, like a teacher or a parent, as teachers can reset your password for you, which can be used to modify your account at any time if used improperly.
